Borne out of the designer’s passion for environmental sustainability, the “Container Home” by Lev Libeskind for Libeskind Studio Design is a unique and beautiful structure that makes use of metal containers and glass to create a spacious-looking home that you can transport and set up anywhere.

As a way to promote environmental responsibility and to encourage the use of metal container used in shipping cargo, Libeskind has created a home that transforms a simple metal box into a work of art.

Libeskind decided to cut out portions of the metal home and replace it with glass, effectively allowing the owner to have a direct view of his surroundings.

At nighttime, the owner will have an unobstructed view of the night sky. By morning, he will enjoy beautiful sunrises.  During daytime, having glass portions on the roof allows more light to penetrate and permeates the home, reducing the need to turn on lamps and electric light bulbs.  This aspect, supports Libeskind’s goal of creating a sustainable home.

Indeed, the container home is designed to give the owner as much of the world outside as much as the inside. The structure is intended to support those who enjoy living in places with breathtaking vistas whether it is the middle of a beautiful savanna or a desert.
