STÆRK&CHRISTENSEN IS A NEW YORK-BASED STUDIO WITH A REPUTATION FOR HOLISTIC WORK ACROSS THE FIELDS OF FASHION, INTERIOR DESIGN, FURNITURE, PHOTOGRAPHY AND FILM.
Rooted in a Danish Design Heritage and Mid-Century modern sensibility, mixed with gothic, mythical themes and the haunting glamour of old Hollywood, Stærk&Christensen executes their unique signature work inspired by this sphere of influence, nature’s raw materials and their appreciation for original architecture. The founders and head creatives of Stærk&Christensen are designer Camilla Stærk & model / photographer Helena Christensen.
Helena Christensen is one of the original ‘magnificent seven’ super models, and a celebrated fashion and art photographer. Originally from Denmark, Helena has risen to global fame, gracing the covers of Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and W since the early 90’s. Simultaneously Christensen has been serving as a founding partner and creative director of Nylon magazine, launching the hit concept store butik in New York City, launched best-selling designs with habitat London, and most recently has headed up lingerie and ready-to-wear collections as both designer and campaign muse for some of Europe’s largest retailers. Her photography has been published extensively in art and design magazines and is frequently showcased in galleries from Europe to the US.
Born and raised in the countryside of Denmark, Camilla Stærk studied fashion and textiles at Ravensbourne College in London. The sophisticated, dark romance of her women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, accessories and interiors have earned her the British fashion council’s Newgen award, collaborations with top fashion brands and hotels, multimedia solo art exhibitions and dedicated collectors from London to Tokyo to the Americas.
‘as a whole, her work epitomizes a powerful, continually evolving expression of modern noir: her designs are clean, minimal, sharp and glamorous.’
