Leo Marmol, FAIA, and Ron Radziner, FAIA, formed their partnership in 1989, launching a unique design- build practice led by architects. Since its inception, the Los Angeles-based firm, which established a satellite office in San Francisco in 2014, has developed a reputation for innovative design and precision in applying construction standards.
By adopting the role of the traditional “master builder,” Marmol Radziner integrates a variety of design services with construction capabilities. A team of architects, interior designers, landscape designers, metal fabricators, carpenters, furniture-makers, and construction crew possess a depth of knowledge and breadth of experience that cannot be found at a single-discipline firm. Marmol Radziner currently employs over 170 employees in their offices, shops, and in the field.
Marmol Radziner creates projects that engage the surrounding environment and take a warm, textured approach to modernism that is elegant and timeless. Unique compositions of light, materials, and space, as well as rigorous attention to detail, have garnered projects for clients in the art and creative industries, such as artist James Turrell, art collector Eugenio Lopez, and fashion designer Tom Ford.
Established as a leader in the field of modern architectural restoration, Marmol Radziner is known for its award-winning historic restoration of Richard Neutra’s 1946 Kaufmann House in Palm Springs. Additional projects include restorations of works by Cliff May, Rudolph Schindler, and John Lautner.
The American Institute of Architects recognized Leo and Ron’s contributions to architecture and society on a national level in 2007, elevating them to its prestigious College of Fellows. The American Institute of Architects, California Council, named Marmol Radziner Firm of the Year in 2004. Interior Design magazine welcomed Leo and Ron to its Hall of Fame in 2009, and Architectural Digest named Marmol Radziner one of its AD100 in 2010, 2012, and 2014.
The firm’s landscape design department is also recognized by the American Society of Landscape Architects with prestigious national and local awards from 2005 to 2009 for residential projects in Los Angeles. Additionally, Marmol Radziner Prefab, an enterprise launched in 2005, earned a coveted 2006 Silver IDEA award, sponsored by BusinessWeek and the Industrial Designers Society of America. Marmol Radziner is regularly featured in leading publications, including Architectural Digest, Dwell, The New York Times Magazine, Wallpaper*, Interior Design, and Architectural Record.
