SKIN HOUSE

The Daphne Skin House is a “fashion” house that reflects the style of Daphne Guinness. A well- renowned fashion designer, artist, and theater enthusiast, Daphne’s Skin Home is a work that evokes drama and sophistication. The façade is composed of a series of fixed and collapsible metal panels in front of doors and windows giving the house two unique facets: the closed and the open façades.
When the panels are closed, the house assumes the form of a metal box, like a sculpture that stands out amid other works of art. When the panels are opened, the “sculpture” transforms into a “house”; doors and windows are revealed behind the panels, affording you a peek into the interiors.
The metal panels are perforated allowing the natural light to filter through even when the structure is closed. At night, the light from inside the home spills out through the perforated panels, casting a beautiful glow.
Daphne’s house reflects her style—modern and at the same time, classic. The polished concrete floor, red elements and fabrics, create vibrant interiors that match neoclassical design and modern finishes.
